One question: do you still need a SF account to be granted edit access to the Wiki ? My guess and experience is not any more but before changing the instructions on the Wiki Help FreeCAD I would appreciate a confirmation.

The SF account is for when you want to migrate from the old SF-hosted stuff... If you are new to freecad indeed you don't need that anymore, you only need to ask someone with admin rights on the wiki (Jürgen, Werner, Normand or myself) to create a new user for you.
