Does direct editing of a translation page break the Translation marks etc.?

Post by JoeKundlak »

For my Slovak Wiki translation I am using an external CAT tool, so I copied out the English source text for the given page, loaded that into the CAT and subsequently exported the translated Slovak version out of it (it includes the <!--T:xxx--> tags from the English source).

Instead of pasting each line/paragraph into the Wiki Translation interface on the Slovak page I want to paste the whole translated Wiki source there. Normally you cannot directly edit a localized Wiki page (for the English source you have an Edit button, but for the localized pages you instead have the Translate button), but you can use a workaround like this:

Code: Select all

Am I correct in assuming I can directly paste the translated text (removing the <!--T:xxx--> tags left over from the English source) and it will not break anything, even though I am not using the Translation extension itself? I.e. the Translation extension pairs the paragraphs from the English source to the localized page automagically?

EDIT: Just found out I cannot do this with translations, the Edit page for the Slovak page does not let me :) Never mind, will copy-paste one by one then. 8-)
