Depthmap of current scene

Post by JMG »

Hello!

Is there a way to render depth maps to a file (.png or alike) of the active 3D view?

The functionality must be hidden somewhere as FreeCAD can render stereo images in several ways. I have checked the python API and found nothing, and I did have a look to the Inventor Mentor book, but nothing shows up in a quick search.

I am surely missing something, where should I look?

Thank you!
Javier.

I remember microelly2 did something with calculating shadow depth of contored terrain for solar panels or something. I wonder if it relates to this in any way? Can't seem to find the thread though!
