Another nice feature of Sketchup is that when you want to build/buy/... a house you can and you have the drawing you can scale it on google maps you can make a small 3D version of your house and check how the sun is in the garden etc

There have been ideas on this forum already to have solar simulation tools in freecad...

Exporting to google earth is probably not hard because a KMZ is basically a zipped collada file, but there are probably all kinds of additional dififculties to comply with the google earth API...

The API exist only to the end of the year…
