[Edit] Better Workflow to Model and Revise a Complex Building, Assemble Parts, Parametrically and Efficiently? - 1

Post by paullee »

Workflow experiment on 1st point

1. Discrete Objects Unable to be Assembled Difficult for Design Development [Edit]

> Currently in the experiment, a single underlying master sketch and a nos. of dependent sketches is used to create Arch Wall objects
> All arch objects, each of which are numbers of walls, are constructed on top of sketches of numbers of lines / edges
> Sketches are grouped currently according to wall thickness
> Totally abandon link to external geometry / Map to Face or Vertices etc.
> Use sketch's mapmode to kind of assemble / link sketches and arch objects against each other
> Use a (group of) Arch Axis to 'place' all the relevant sketches or all the Arch Objects similarly to kind of 'assemble' the parts

> Now, the tower, with all parts / arch objects 'assembled', move/rotate altogether with adjustment of 1 axis
> A master sketch change layout, other dependent sketches follow and arch objects follows
> A single Axis system control and can be edited as to how the tower typical floor are repeated
> Arch Spaces are built upon the sketches

Would be Better With / Pre-requisite: There are several problems dropped into as shown in the videos below. It seem to have this workflow work efficiently, problems encounter should be somehow resolved or addressed

Videos of the Experiment [Edit]
ArchObjects Creation 'based on a Sketch'
- 4 'box' objects in the model shown
- note the numbers of parts form a 'box' object 'based on 1 sketch' ( a number of 'dependent' sketches on top )
phpBB [video]

Rotating a group of ArchObjects Walls, Windows, Doors
- note rotating an axis, rotate all parts together, walls, doors and windows
- it start rotating at about 17s, finishing at about 1min!
- find some broken walls
- touching here and there the underlying sketches, expression, force recompute 'fix' the model to expected shape

.
.

ArchWall (Closed) flip in Left / Right Direction
- in addition to random broken / arch wall creation problem
- a wall object, closed with 4 sides, is found flipped inside-out, left to right (or vice versa)

.
.

Stretching the Underlying Sketch Stretch the Model, Relocating Doors and Windows
- note about 1:30' room dimensions are adusted
- model updated in about 5-10s (w/ some problems and 'fix' as above)
- note the doors stick to next to the dividing wall
- the window still keep near the corners
- about 4:10s, another attempt to stretch /alter the room dimensions

Thanks for the patience. More video to share on 2nd and 3rd points after some sleep.
