[SOLVED] How do I constrain a sketch to an axis?

Post by Moult »

Not entirely sure how to do this, but it would seem like a very, very, useful tool.

Do you mean the point-on-object constraint Image where you select the axis and a point?
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

No. I meant an arch axis object, axis system, or grid system object .

At the moment, you can't. The axis is not part-based and therefore not seen by the sketcher. We could actually try to change that...

I see. It would be absolutely great if it could be changed so that it could be recognised. I'm sure you understand the benefits of doing so :)

What is involved in changing it? Is it easy / hard?

I'm not sure if there is one yet, but you may want to open a ticket on the tracker to track this feature

Probably use the Link to External Edge tool in Sketcher
