This issue (which I can reproduce) is a side-effect of the wall appearing clipped in the 3D view. The clipped appearance of objects (an issue that is reported more generally) can be solved by using the Std_ViewFitAll or Std_ViewFitSelection command. If there is a bug here, it is a completely different one. This bug report can be closed.

Can the camera plane position be configured by the user in any way?

To my knowledge not via the GUI.
