what are the bubbles used for?
Re: Architecture work in FreeCAD
Those are filler slabs, made with clay pots in this representation, a way to create lighter concrete roofing slabs that are 2/3 the volume or full slabs, so slightly lightweight and slightly cheaper while bringing in the strength of waffle slabs, but also brings in some type of aestetic apeal to the roof.
In the design of this project, I then experimented with creating such a slab as a worth while challenge for freecad.
Once I knew I wanted to create these slabs, i thought a bit further, if this is to be built or redesigned, there will be a need to create good and accurated construction documents, so the initial model needs to be well designed with a minimum degree of errors. I then wondered if freecad could 1.) create such slabs, and how to accurately position them, modify them, 2.) how quickly can you reproduce a modified version of the project if this were a real world scenarios where changes occur on projects on a daily if not hourly basis, while executing all the boolean operations including rebar representation. Basically seing how far I can tax freecad. ,This was no easy fit , there were alot of crash and bugs during the trials, lots of things not behaving well, or sometimes unexpected etc different methods were very slow if you imagine having to select each clay pot and cutting the volumetric shape out of the roof so that it is accurately represented in drawing plans plans when you do detail sections. So the project size increased exponentially, so it was a good struggle to see how freecad handles such workloads, testing its limits when it comes to hard core production work.

What system do you exactly usein your project ? BTW Is it a real project ?
As a structural engineer I use the one attached one quite often ... But I have never used it at such a small building. At the moment I do a building for an airport fire brigade The building is 75 m x 30 m There we use the system and can save hundreds of m3 concrete

System? not sure what you are asking as I don't know alot of engineering terms. I was hoping for it to be a real built project. But is was a competition submital.bernd wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2017 6:54 pm What system do you exactly usein your project ? BTW Is it a real project ?

Re: Architecture work in FreeCAD
Good job @regis.
Re: Architecture work in FreeCAD
@regis looking good so far. Are you still planning to realize this project?
Re: Architecture work in FreeCAD
it would be ideal to build, so yes perhaps someday when I can get the funds and a good opportunity.
but a few more options like 2bedroom or 3bedrooms should be created for it to fit various market demands.
Re: Architecture work in FreeCAD
That would be amazing if you'll get it done someday! It looks really promising, hopefully you'll get the opportunity soon.

These pictures where dying on my desktop until i delete them, so i just thought i would share them here before
