WIP: torsen differential

Post by epileftric »

Hello fellows, I just wanted to share a WIP of mine, I need to work on now on a case for the gears

Image

It's a differential transmission for cars, I don't know much about it, but I saw it last week on Reddit on a video and found it very cool. My idea is to print it

I'm currently using the 0.18 version

Yeah! That's the video I saw on reddit that got me into doing this!

I don't know how to animate stuff on freecad yet, but I can share the files for anyone willing to do it

Here's a download link

If it helps promoting the program I'm glad I could help! I'm considering to start doing tutorials in spanish (my native tongue).

I made a first animation with 2 different speeds
The upper wormgear has double speed.
the rendering time for each frame is 1-2 sec.
at the moment I have problems to write the pictures, so no final video but the process of animation is shown here.
Because of the complex surface the rendering time is high

I will look for an interactive solution - the user should rotate the gears and the worms should follow.

Good idea to show the different views simultaniously.

Woah!! Dude, great job!

Can that be achieved? Is there a way to it with the Assembly3 bench? I've recently downloaded the packed version of 0.17 that includes the bench, but haven't got my hands on to it yet

I'm working now on a better housing for the worm mechanism over the bevel flat gear.
