First step with FEM

Post by doul »

Hello !

After some issues with linux mint (why ????), Fem work well fine on debian.

I just want to say thanks to all people for that great CAD, for free 8-) FreeCAD helps me on my all day welding and machining work.

More steps with FEM : a heavy loaded weldable half clamp (screw M30 10.9), with 1500 MPa max stress high strength steel is highly advised !

2 analysis in 1 file, on left max stress , on right displacement.

Little flange for cap fixing, before analysis I think C45 steel can do this job, with max stress = 521 MPa, C45 yield strength (Re=450 MPa) is not suitable.

Nice work!
BTW: when I have local peak stresses exceeding sigma-max, I run a plastic
analysis by using the additional material-nonlinear option.

Okay, it's done now. I've moved to FreeBSD 12.2 since first post, "stable" version is 18.5 now. To get FreeCAD 0.19 running I've installed Linux Debian on a virtual machine.

On left screen FreeBSD running TWM widow manager running Virtualbox -> on right screen Linux Debian 10 running XFCE widow manager runnig FreeCAD. Complicated !

doul, very cool. BTW, please remove your version info from your signature. Since that is a moving target your older posts won't make sense anymore. Therefore we have a guideline to prevent this misunderstanding. Thank you for your comprehension.

Also, do you know any folks in the *BSD world that are running v0.19 natively ?
