TechDraw Template (German atm.)

Postby Dropholus » Sun Jan 24, 2021 11:52 am

Hello together,

I made a template for the techdraw.
At the moment it is only in german available. But if you find it usefull,
I can make an english version and also a portrait variant.
The free place beneath the freecad logo is for your own use.
Or you replace the logo by your own.

It has no explicit license and can be used by everyone. Even distributed by the FreeCAD installer.

Used fonts: osifont, Arial
Layer: yes
editable texts: yes

Greetings
Daniel

The lines in the field "Zeichnungsname" are rather narrow, almost overlapping: a "p" in the first line would hit an uppercase letter in the second. Is this conformant to some norm?

It is not intended. I forgot to make the font size a little bit smaller.

I updated my template.
The "Zeichnungsname" (Drawing name) font is now smaller.

Now also in english available. (Please test this for correctness)

Nicely done. Thanks for your work.
Some remarks:
- The protection note mentions DIN 34. Afaik it is cancelled since 2002. The sucessor is DIN ISO 16016 (see wikipedia).
- To mention a german DIN in the english template makes not that much sense to me
- If I open the SVG in inkscape license is propietary. Maybe you think about change it to CC0 or similar

cheers

edit: for information a link to lettering in technical drawings

Hi jeno,

you are right. I changed the templates.

But what about the link?
Should I change the font?
Is it free available? (TechDraw comes with the osifont, so I took it.)

I'm fine with osifont. But you also mentioned that you use Arial somewhere. Usually it is not available on Linux and MAC. Maybe you think about using an alternative.
The link was intended to be informative

Just for the record: Arial is available at least for MacOS 10.13-10.15. Don't know about Big Sur (11).

For Linux Ubuntu, Arial is available with a package called "ttf-mscorefonts-installer".

You're right. I read that somewhen the agreement between Apple and MS ended. But they renewed it. My Bad.

I know. Most distributions serve an installer. But for example on Arch you have to enable the less save AUR.
On postscript printers Arial is substituted by the built-in Helvetica.

My personal point of view: a medium designed font, which needs on some systems a separate installation procedure and you have to agree the license agreement. Then you will see it on a printed paper or maybe not. I don't have the mscorefonts neither on my laptop nor on my desktop.

Anyway let the author of the template decide.
