My progress after a few weeks of learning FreeCAD (and unlearn my high expectations from years of Solidworks)

Showing the part after meshed for STL export and printing...

Thanks to some instabilities I get to think about completely new and improved design iterations immediatelly when I need to change something - I start over:

Anybody into 3d Printing here?
If this was actually part of a FEM/FEA mesh, it makes me think about the 'chromatist Agenda'*** : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JznXx4unpB4 Anybody seen this video about FEM/FEA based material 'properties' to use it to differentiate on infill strategies...

How cool will be to have some sort of fast ambient oclusion for the viewport? Thank you devs for your efforts.

How did you split the Tree view and the Property view in different panels?

The right side panel is just the combo view where i pulled up the "data view" widget to cover the tree. The left side view is the Glass addon (download with the addon manager) wich @triplus was kind enough to help me to modify. It's really easy tough. Once downloaded the addon go to your .FreeCAD/Mod/Glass/ folder then replace the line 35 of GlassGui.py with:

Code: Select all

dock = mw.findChild(QtGui.QDockWidget, "Tree view")

On line 77 chose a "color"(of the text) that suits your 3d view background preference .

Code: Select all

widget.setStyleSheet(" background:transparent; border:none; color:white;")
It is incredible how a small change can inhance the workflow especially when working with multi body files. It gets dificult for me to get back to the clasic interface after using this kind of arrangement.
It works with the py3/qt5 appimage version. There is some discusion here: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=32397

Thanks, but...
I mean, how do you call an independent tree view panel? I can't find a setting for that.
If only I change the line 35 I get an error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Users\Rafael\AppData\Roaming\FreeCAD\Mod\Glass\GlassGui.py", line 137, in setMode
dock.setParent(mdi)
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'setParent'

Original Glass works normally in my PC.

You can enable the Tree view by enabling View -> Panels -> Tree view entry. If Tree view isn't listed there, please open a new thread, as likely some bug is involved.
