Housing development project
This is a project that I carried out in FC and later rendered in Blender in 2020. It consists of a settlement of houses and apartment blocks.
To draw the topography of the terrain, I drew the contour lines on the Sketcher Workbench, then used the loft tool to get a solid, with which and through boolean operations I was able to cut, land and insert the streets and blocks from all over the project, also it was possible to calculate the areas and volumes of land, looking for the balance between the necessary movements.

Re: Housing development project
At the moment, I am rethinking the modeling of the natural terrain through the use of survey points instead of using contour lines. See the post:

Re: Housing development project
The designs for each building were developed in separate files. I inserted each one of them in the finished terrain through the adoption of their clones in the desired positions (today I would do it using links between files).

Re: Housing development project
After everything was ready, I exported the various files to Blender and made the final renderings. These are same examples:

Re: Housing development project
This looks awesome, great work!! I am curious how did you do the roads?
And the coloured trees look real funny

Re: Housing development project
For the construction of the streets and sidewalks, I had to be quite creative I think. In the settlement of houses, first I elaborated the general plan of the streets. Then I created their volumes (extrusion). With these volumes, by subtracting with the solid of the terrain topography, I obtained their voids that I put the final solids of them.
To make the final volumes of the streets and sidewalks, I positioned several cut plans at strategic points (changes in heights and directions) of the roads. In these plans I drew a sketch with the desired height and width of the street. After that, I created solids using the loft tool. Through the various sketches of the sections, I was able to adjust the dimensions of the roads as needed (mainly the heights in a parametric way). If you like, I can add some illustrative images of the process.
Note: If there was a 3D sketch, it could make the creation and management of the horizontal and vertical profiles of the roads much easier. Either way, the trails workbench is developing the right tools for these jobs.
The trees were really simplified! Sorry about that, but their colors it was an intent to represent the different flowering.

Re: Housing development project
I realized now that I should have posted it on the User Showcase, is there a way to move it there?
Re: Housing development project
If you could post a couple of images to show how you did it I would appreciate it And I like those coloured treesF_Rosa wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 6:34 pm For the construction of the streets and sidewalks, I had to be quite creative I think. I am not sure if it is possible to move the thread to Showcase.
