Office doors

Post by babaroga »

Hhose are the doors for our new office building.
Doors were produced from solid oak, one of verticals are engraved with wavy pattern. Everything is done with FC, exported to STEP and fabricated on Biesse CNC 5 axis workcenter. There is still some printed foil to be applied to glasses.

Model is produced with FC built from master some 30 days ago.

I used master sketch to keep proportions since there was 4 different sizes of doors.

Model is to big for upload but here is the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1s1Z2eZ ... p=drivesdk

Ok, I fixed the link. There was some "url=" preventing it to open.

CNC is Biesse Rover 1632 with 5-axis head. Controller software is called BSolid an it likes STEPs exported from freecad.

Doors were produced in five phases:
1. Production of components with some small overmeasure
2. Assembly of the frame
3. Cutting everything on dimensions and making grooves for glasses from backside
4. making wavy pattern and line on front side
5. Grooving for locks

Thanks, great model !

And I see some youtube video on the machine, seems can do lots of jobs with that :)

Yes, machine is great. However it has a few serious limitations.
BSolid, controlling software is great for machining operations but have lot of glitches. Best thing is that it works perfectly with models created with FreeCAD.

This "worm" was also made in Freecad during our export/import tests ;) . This is raw part without any sanding or revork.

Outstanding!

I really like the door, and the model it's cute. It's so cool to see that someone it's using FCAD for business/work.
After #ElonMuskBuyTwitter I'm no more on Twitter, that's really enough :-(

Any limitations you can mention?

The part without sanding already look great !

Yes, of course. Most of them are depending on options we had installed on machine, but we were not aware of them.

Machine has 6 workfields, 3 on left side of worktable and 3 on the right.
- you cannot drill horizontal holes on right side of right workfields, because machine cannot physically reach them. We have to cheat machine and move pieces to the left for about 20cm.

You cannot do horizontal milling operations on the left side of bottom left workfield, but you can do it on middle and top.

You can not drill through holes on parts thicker than 40 mm because surrounding drills also touch part surface and leave marks. If you want to do so, you have to take off all other drills from drill head.

Horizontal drills in Y direction can be 45mm long max.

There is also some everyday, basic options hidden so deeply in menus (on such unlogical places with undescriptive names) it is almost impossible to find without assistance.

But overall, it is like FreeCAD. When you learn all do's and dont's it is great piece of machine.
