Mountainboard MBS Pro 12 Jereme Leafe

Post by rockn »

Hi everyone !
As I use mainly FreeCAD for architectural projects I wanted to know if I could use FreeCAD for parts mechanics.
It take me a little week to model this. All piece was modelling in FreeCAD.
Whole object.
Whole object.

I don't share the whole file because it's a commercial product and it's too big but if you want some part...ask me!

Yes, yes it is a "Real world to FreeCAD" project. Very nicely done. Yea, FreeCAD can do more than just houses.

Impressed! Think you should do a tutorial, perfect project for that.
And should be cool if somebody render it in blender with materials.

In fact, I envisage to use some part of this project as support for formations which I must give. If I make a clean document I would make some can be a tutorial. But it will be in French. :D

For a render I have thinking of this, FreeCAD was thinking a lot to make a luxrender project and to pass the document of 4Mo to 31Mo. And returned to give a mountainboard all white…

Yeah awesome work, and thanks for sharing some of the parts ...

How did you assemble? Did you copied the file of a part, refined the shape and placed them in a master document (first screen) together?

Thanks bernd :)

So, the workflow to assembled these :

Each part are created in separate document then export in STEP.
Sub element like Trucks (2nd screenshot) are made in a separate document by placing imported STEP files then I make a compound of all imported step parts. Compound is cool because it conserve colors.
In final document (1st screenshot) I merged each freecad doc with sub element. So I merged two time Trucks file, four time Wheel file, two time the Fixations file and the plate step file.
So it's easy to place each sub element because they are embeded in a compound.

Hope it's clear ;)

This is a beautiful assembly! Thank you for sharing your technique.

I am still just getting to know FreeCAD. Is this a common technique for assemblies, or a novel method of your own development?

When a component is updated, must the new component be manually placed to update the assembly?
