Mirror Text

Postby gsandy » Thu Mar 26, 2020 1:44 am

Is there anyway to mirror text so that the letters are not reversed?
In the attached I made a finished model except for the text. Then mirrored model and then added the text seperately to each model.
So basically I want to create a model with extruded text, then mirror model with text letters the right way around. With The mirrored copy I want to be able to edit the text.
Thanks Sandy

To make it even more complicated, it's not just a mirror.

There is mirror sketch, merge sketch.

I see your post has an attachement, is it just mine? If not how do I view it?

What I think you see are a couple icon. In tools-customize-sketcher there are additional tools that can be added to the standard toolbars, I have shown what the icons look like. These tools are used in the 3D window, I think you click on a sketch and then click mirror and FreeCAD creates a new sketch, you can then select 2 sketches and merge. I'm not sure of the whole proceedure to get to a full solid mirror/swap of your text.

Don't fuse rib and texte on the original part , do miror of the rib , and make a simple copie of texte , you can modify it and place it in the right place on the miror rib

You cannot mirror just parts of a part - unless it's at the same time a different part. Joke aside: it's not possible in Part workbench, because you always mirror a whole solid. You can, however, mirror the object before adding the ShapeString.
The situation is different in PartDesign: you mirror only features, and you could leave the ShapeString based pocket. That could be repeated using a PolarPattern.
