Loft buttons in Part Design Workbench do not work smoothly.

Postby leoheck » Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:50 pm

Loft buttons, "Add Section" and "Remove Section" don't behave nicely.

For instance, if I click "Remove section" and after click in one Sketch in the list nothing happens.

Then, if I Hit Del key over it I can delete it, but the "Remove Section" button is still pressed.

Then If I click "Add Section" it will be pressed and also the "Remove Section" will remain pressed.

Click remove selection, and then click one of the sections in the 3d view.

That is correct but is not a sensible workflow in all cases. For something I was doing a few days ago I too was annoyed by this and found it to be non-intuitive and inconvenient to use for my particular project/file.

I agree with you in at least a general sense, I have not had time to think about the details specifically. Its generally best for tool to behave consistently with other similar tools where that makes sense, but I would have thought selection should be acceptable from the task view, the tree view and the 3d view.

I think I had already pinged Uwe about this, but cannot see the post here, so it may occur somewhere else in the wrong place. He has alredy made improvements to fillets and friends and may be able to improve this one too.

In the last few weeks there has been an improvement in Part Design for lofts and sweeps (additive and subtractive) that enables us to preselect the sketches before opening the dialog. For lofts select the sketches in the tree (order of selection is important). First selected will be the profile, then the sections. For sweeps select the profile sketch in the tree, and then select the path edges in the 3d view prior to opening the dialog. Note: multi-selection sweeps must still use the dialog for adding the additional sections.

The same happens for chamfers, maybe for fillet too
