New user: Why is this component highlighted? What are those arrows?

Post by DanielC »

Hello,

I recently started playing with FreeCAD. As requested, here is my FreeCAD info:
OS: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.16.6703 (Git)
Build type: None
Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-16
Hash: 2ce5c8d2e3020d05005ed71f710e09e9aa561f40
Python version: 2.7.6
Qt version: 4.8.6
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 6.8.0.oce-0.17
I was playing with the Parts workbench (really just goofing off) and at some point I must have hit something and now my window looks like the attached screenshot. On the left, the item called "Level 9" is highlighted in yellow and on the main window I see what appears to be two orthogonal circles with green arrows on them. I don't know what this means, and I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. I figure that I must have pressed some keyboard shortcut or something. As indicted in the instructions, I also attached my FreeCAD file.

Thank you for the help.

Hi!
This is a moving and rotating UI, and you probably entered it by double-clicking the object in tree. Someone called it "gyroscopic mover and shaker of death" because it doesn't work too well.

Right-click the yellow-highlighted object in tree, and pick "Finish editing" from context menu.

You have chosen a "transformation" left click mouse
Select the highlighted object and left click the mouse to select " Finish editing "
