Printing PDF Issue

Postby cnirbhay » Tue Nov 15, 2016 5:12 am

There is a problem in printing PDF from FreeCAD. Sometimes the printing gets stuck in between & sometimes prints in poor quality. Also From FreeCAD exposed to .svg Open .svg in InkScape, saved as bitmap. That bitmap (.png .jpg .bmp) is printed to obtain poor quality print out.

What's the solution?

An example file made by a student is attached below.

As for most help requests, and as detailed in the forum rules, you need to provide the full FreeCAD info for the PC on which the problem happens. It may very well be system dependent.

Edit: just tried File --> Export to PDF without issue apart from the slow process. Of course it's only one try... But maybe the problem is due to the model being complex.

FYI, the file was created with version 0.17R8681 but can't tell you the platform.

When loading the file with FreeCAD I realized that it becomes quite unresponsive when activating the drawing view. But when the 3d view is active it behaves normally.

Hi @cnirbhay!

Here is one solution i know of ATM that would do what you are after. Unfortunately it doesn't yet work with TechDraw WB (i would need to test if i can automate exporting of SVG file from Python in TechDraw and use that).

P.S. But you can always do that yourself. That is export the drawing as SVG and after print it to PDF file in Inkscape.
