Re: Shoelast
My idea was to approximate the shoe design workflow:
put tape on the last
then cut it along some lines and
unfold/stretch it to the plan
http://sneakerfactory.net/sneakers/2017 ... e-pattern/
the algorithm is still not optimal but I found some scipy methods to do the interpolations.
the source code is at the moment hard to read, so give me more some weeks to improve it.

Re: Shoelast
Really cool! Thanks for sharing! I could use it to model quickly my kayak...[1]

That's really cool. More instructions and some files you can find here:

Re: Shoelast
toward exact drawing ...
now the question
what is easier to get:
a good realtime communication between inkscape and freecad
or
a sketcher which can bezier curves like inkscape
and get the sketcher snap on nonlinear grids

Re: Shoelast
wouldn't it be possible to find a mapping between 2d and 3d via nurbs which share the same uv-space? (at least theoretical )

Re: Shoelast
when I can move the 2D component of the MAP object to a free place it is easier to shift the pieces on this area and map
them to the 3D shoelast.
when I have a design as sketch I bring it into the 2D Map, adapt it to the grid and then it is ready for the shoe.

this is a first result of curvature analysis heremicroelly2 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2017 6:29 pm bp_625.png

Re: Shoelast
Bending a sheet of paper or leather is a common task.
how can I do this the parametric way ?
I need three kinds of information:
the planar face of material
the way where to roll up
and the information how strong to bend
I put them all together into a scripted object.
