Re: Curves WB : New BlendSolid tool

Post by Cekuhnen »

Chris_G wrote: Sat Jul 24, 2021 10:51 am I have added a new tool to the Curves Workbench.
It is called BlendSolid.
The goal is to join 2 solids by a selected face, with smooth continuity.
I woke up to see what's new - this came out of no where !

Chris G this is so amazing - I use such a tool a lot and it is so important to make transitional parts !

How can we test it ?

Hi,
Update the workbench, and you should have access to the new tool.

Oh that’s how that works - fantastic

I got this also with this new tool. Other Chris pointed out some error in the dependency graph which show up after adding the loft.

I attached the file in case it helps to figure out what causes the issue.

I think the bug comes from BlendSurface. I have already seen this kind of failure.
I have to investigate.

The "Links goes outside of the allowed scope" is more a warning than an error.
It happens a lot if you use Curves WB tools on PartDesign objects.
Curves WB was not designed to be used with PartDesign objects.

Unfortunately, continuity is not supported between the consecutive Blend Surfaces.

ah very useful to know

What about part design ? Projecting onto part design shell surfaces seems to be hit or miss

I have added a Fuse option to BlendSolid, in the Settings group.
When enabled, the blendsolid will be fused with the 2 source solids; these 2 objects will become children of the blendsolid in the TreeView, and the Shape Status will display "Fused".
