fem on laminates

Postby Pammie » Thu Jan 11, 2018 8:21 pm

Hi, maybe a stupid question... I want to make a fem model of a construction in foam/GRP laminate (GRP on both sides). I suppose the fem module can't handle that? Use only thickness of the GRP? As the product EI of the GRP is much much more than that of the foam?

if you make a solid FEM analysis you can use multiple materials. You do not even to put in the thickness because of a solid mesh.

I do not know how to make a composite shell FEM with thickness in CalculiX ( FreeCAD FEM standard solver).
