stuck on my First FC drawing - "Linked shape object is empty"

Hi Everyone,

I though had spent enough time practicing with FreeCAD youtube tutorials and reading all the documentation but now I am stuck on a very simple task. I cannot seem to create a pocket on an extrude face from my sketch. I am using V.17 on a windows 7 pc. My sketch is fully constrained but I have a feeling the problem is in tree/model-view of how the objects and sketches are linked. The main error I get is "Linked shape object is empty."

I would be grateful for any help and advice.

In your first sketch you have two redundant horizontal constraints, which are implied by the symmetries.

In your second sketch you have only construction geometry (blue). Select all lines and hit the toggle icon at the rightmost place of your Sketcher elements.
