Can't open dxf or dwg files

Hello,

I'm trying to open dxf and dwg files but Freecad stays thinking (tested for many hours) and finally I have to force the exit the software. I tried it with exporting the Draftsight drawings into many different dxf and dwg formats (R12 binary, ASCII....) but I receive always the same behaviour.
I also tried to install the dxf addon (Draft-dxf-importer) and installed the TeighFileConverter (tried with Freecad integration and convert first with standalone software).
Always have Freecad hanged..!!!
Somebody have a hint??

Your DXF is quite massive at 2.1MB.

I left FreeCAD open even though it seemed to hang, went to do other things for about half an hour, and when I came back to my PC the file was finally opened.

I have a similar but older setup as you, Intel Core i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz × 4.

In DXF Import-Export preferences, I have the legacy python importer enabled, and I set it to import geometry as simple objects, and unchecked "Join geometry". Note that you have to load the Draft workbench for the DXF tab to appear in the Import-Export preferences; and you need to quit FreeCAD and restart it for changes to take effect.

But what do you want to do with such massive 2D files in FreeCAD? If you want to work in 2D, you might be better off working with a dedicated 2D CAD program like LibreCAD.
