How to install help files for 'What's This?' on AppImage?

Post by micksulley »

Is it possible to install the help files for use with the AppImage? The main items in the help menu work but if I try to use the What's This? button I get this error message

FreeCAD help files not found (/tmp/.mount_FreeCA6Sx6qt/usr/lib/freecad-daily/././/share/doc/freecad-daily-doc/freecad.qhc). You might need to install the FreeCAD documentation package.

I have downloaded FreeCAD_doc_0.18.7z, extracted and put the doc directory in the same directory as the AppImage. Do I need to do something else or is it just not possible on the AppImage?

OS: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.18.13959 (Git) AppImage
Build type: None
Branch: master
Hash: 2f18182b6dff87f8857787c854e39ca4d441f993
Python version: 2.7.6
Qt version: 4.8.6
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 7.2.0
Locale: English/UnitedKingdom (en_GB)

Thanks

There was shortly a discussion about this here: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29139
The discussed way is documented here: Installing_Helpfile

So we can see now, if this is working. ;)

The help system needs some more love, not all "What's This?" do work. :(
