Viewing pane freezes upon Arch Wall creation

I have been using Freecad v0.16 for a while succesfully in acoustic design and I love it´s parametric feature.

v0.17 has a problem that I can´t solve and has kept me using older versions. Problem is with viewing pane that totally freezes after using Arch wall object. FreeCAD says: "Unhandled unknown exeption caught in GUIApplication::notify." Deleting wall object makes paning, zooming and rotating work again.

Attached is simple FreeCAD file with a scketch that is converted to a wall that freezes viewing pane.

It seems to be an issue on Windows only... Shot in the dark: can you delete (or rename/move away) your config files and try again? Here's how: https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/index.p ... rt_anymore

Sometimes these files get corrupted, and weird and unexplainable stuff happens.

Thanks for the help! I deleted user.cfg and system.cfg files but it didn't help.

I can open my test file normally with v0.16 6712 version.

Can you open the Report view (View menu --> Panels) and try again to create a Wall; maybe some error message will display. If it does, please paste it here.

EDIT: sorry, when you wrote

Should I assume this was from the Report view?

I could not find any failures at all.

My version of FC 0.17 is the portable version rather than the installed version, but the FreeCAD files should be identical. The hashes are the same.

Must be some sort of installation issue.

I searched and found multiple topics related to the "Unhandled unknown exception caught in GUIApplication::notify" error, unfortunately, none with an obvious solution. Looks like some bug. Graphics driver issue maybe?

An error log would be useful.

Yes, error message was from the Report View.

Recreating Wall Object gives many error messages and this time Viewing Pane went black. Also got some refreshing problems when I tried to resize the pane. Maybe it is driver problem.

I have never seen that error before... Can you try if other Arch tools give the same error (structure, window,...) and also if Draft tools (line, rectangle...)?
