Hi,
I've been using FreeCAD 0.17 on Ubuntu 16.04 and everything was fine, but recently I have upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04 and when I start FreeCAD it freezes the all applications running for some seconds before the splash screen is displayed.
Apart from that it does work fine.
This is the version I am using:

FreeCAD freezes all application at startup
Trying to learn more about FreeCAD, any idea I will appreciate.
Re: FreeCAD freezes all application at startup
Just a thought (I'm not a developer here): could the fact that you are running FreeCAD from an AppImage have something to do with this? I have found other applications that are distributed in that format slow to start sometimes. Plus FreeCAD receives updates so often it seems to me that installing from PPA is much more practical anyway.
Re: FreeCAD freezes all application at startup
Thanks, It could be that reason, I found the same behavior on application using Appimage too or its simply Gnome 3.28.
Which PPA should I use either of FC 0.17 or FC 0.18?

You can use either, or both. They can live side-by-side. 0.18 is called freecad-daily.
You can also try disabling the slash screen in preferences to see if it makes a difference. With either PPA or the AppImage.
