When I Modify original with Uniform scaling, the end result is not reduced in scale but is simply moved forward.
Create a copy with Uniform scaling will, however, complete a reduction in scale, albeit a copy that is unmodifiable henceforth.
Separate question: The scale factor fields only allow one place to the right of the decimal to be changed from 0. If I want to reduce to 0.375 rather than to 0.3, I'm out of luck.
Thanks for any help.

Hi!
Set higher number of decimals in preferences (Edit->Preferences->General->Units tab). You can also bind an expression to the property, this way the value will not round itself to 0.3, even though it may be displayed this way.
