Ticket #3853 - Draft ShapeString is not editable

Postby uwestoehr » Thu Feb 21, 2019 11:57 am

I created with the Draft WB a ShapeString. This works fine and I could set up everything in its the task dialog.

But when I later need to change something for it and double-click in the ShapeString in the model tree, the ShapeString gets a yellow background but the task dialog doesn't show up. In the report panel I see
"This object type is not editable"

I can nevertheless change properties using the Data tab in the Combo view but to me it seems that something is not correct.

I can not reproduce this error. Perhaps it has something with the mouse settings. My mouse setting is CAD

I use the same mouse setting. I tested now on Win 7 and Win 10 the normal and the Conda build of FC and can reproduce the problem.

So by double-clicking on the ShapeString you get the task dialog where you can e.g. change the font file? Maybe it is a Win-only issue?

It is the behaviour, that an element is shown in yellow until editing ends. Here is no editing, you have to end the (non existing) editing in the right mouse context menu.
You need at least FreeCAD 0.19.23300 to edit my current sketches.

This is what I mean, FC tells me that there is an editing, But it does not show me the dialog so there can't be any editing. Since there exists a task dialog to edit ShapeString I think it is a bug that it is not shown.

Thank you kindly, yorik, for working on getting Draft ShapeStrings to be editable. If this could possibly be included in 0.19, then that would be so much appreciated. Thanks again, and I wish you a great day.

Just to clarify: ShapeStrings are editable, but not by double click. You can change the text and other properties in the Data tab.
