Can't make a sweep beetween 2 sketches.

Post by rlameiro »

Hello
I am trying to sweep a profile into a pathway, but when I try to do it, it doesn't work. the output is "no spine connected"

I have tried on the same body, different bodies. I even changed the position of the profile sketch to be in the middle of the path and the same error is the same.

I attached the file with the sketches.

I am using:
OS: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.18.16093 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-18
Hash: 690774c0effe4fd7b8d2b5e2fb2b8c8d145e21ce
Python version: 2.7.15rc1
Qt version: 5.9.5
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 7.3.0
Locale: Portuguese/Brazil (pt_BR)

I also used this one:

OS: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.18.1.
Build type: Release
Python version: 3.6.7
Qt version: 5.9.5
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 7.3.0
Locale: Portuguese/Brazil (pt_BR)

thankyou for your time

Hello rlameiro, welcome. I was able to make the sweep with both Part Design > AdditivePipe (sweep) and Part > Sweep, however both end results were not correct due to a to short of a line segment in the path. Increasing it by 1mm corrected it and both sweeps pass the geometry check.

Here is the page for Part > Sweep - https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Part_Sweep
and the one for Part Design > AdditivePipe - https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/PartDesign_AdditivePipe

I have attached your file with both sweeps completed, I don't know how critical your dimensions are, but the length of that short line segment just was not enough for the profile to make the turn without folding back on it's self.

Your welcome. Just like in the real world, if you were bending the shape, there are psychical limitations as to how far one can bend them.
