Work project is kicking my butt
I'm relatively new to CAD with no formal engineering education, but have been using it in my personal time. Work has given me a small project that i thought i could take on and handle. I got most of the part down, but am in need of some help with some of the key features on the part. I'm hoping the very helpful people on here can help me out on this one. I'm not looking for handouts but im willing to take whatever is given and learn from it.
Ive attached a few photos of the part noting the dimensions it particular. i've also attached my cad file of what i have so far.
I've done my best to accurately measure the ?spline? interlocking pattern but its small, and im guessing it doesnt have to be perfect replication, it just have to function when its assembled. a bolt is used to tighten it down into a corresponding pattern to hold it in place.

Search the forum for Hirth joint. We recently had a topic about that.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

Hi,
I've done some basic reconstruction on your model,
By using the origin as a center for the hole, it is easier to use symetry and groove
I let you see for the patern inspiring yoursefl of the hilt-joint topic, as you provided measure that aren't complete, can't help you.
Also a general rule of thumb on freecad, the chamfer and fillet are the last operation to be done

Re: Work project is kicking my butt
Thanks for the response guys, pulling triple duty at work this week. i have pulled up that topic and will read. i didnt know thats what that feature was called or i would of searched for it. my apologies. Ill also look at each persons examples. thank you, if theres more i need ill ask.
Also dully noted with the chamfer. im still learning the "formal" rules when it comes to design.
I will say, since the .18 update, its become easier to use.

Re: Work project is kicking my butt
So ive taken what you guys have posted and worked at my drawing. So far so good but im still stuck on the hirth joint. i cant figure out what dimension is my problem causing the ?pad? above the the joint itself. ive attached the file, could someone take a look and let me know what my problem is? I have to have this ready tomorrow morning to turn in or my supervisor at work may write this project off.

Re: Work project is kicking my butt
I just realized that im missing a measurement on the height of the hirth itself. that could be my problem itself. Hopefully i can buy some more time on this since the original part is not with me.

updated file.
Re: Work project is kicking my butt
After a full recompute, the model very sadly displays, with 2 following errors :
Dependency graph is clear about where it fails.Sketcher::SketchObject / Sketch002: Links go out of the allowed scope
Part::Cut / Cut: Links go out of the allowed scope
