Geodata fail

Post by Andraghon »

Greetings,

I am new to this forum, if i made this post in the wrong section i am sorry for that and hope i can be pointed to the right section of this forum.
I have been using Freecad a while now and its really awsome for what i needed to do, as i am a fanatic fan of drawing.

Now i am trying to get a new kind of challange, i know freecad is able to do this however i get an error and i am struggeling to fix this.
I am trying to get google maps locations into freecad, with the help from Geodata and Animation this should work fairly simple i thought.

I am working on a linux machine (mint 19.1), i believe i have installed everything i needed to install i hope you can figer out what i am doing wrong.

As i made a screenshot of the error i got i hope you can make sence out of it.

Welcome to FreeCAD! :)

Please post your full version data in the manner explained in the forum rule link above this forum.

This topic about another 3rd party plug in for civil engineering might be helpful, at the point I have linked to they are talking about importing Gmaps location data I believe....

I merged Geodata Workbench with mine. You can try Geomatics Workbench.

Hi

your FreeCAD version is utterly obsolete, (actually by about ten thousand commits). It is amazing if any add-ons still work with FreeCAD 0.16.
Andraghon wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2019 5:49 pm Python version: 2.7.14+

Python 2 is "end of life", as the creator of the addon workbench said above, you need Python 3, which all distros support, if not by default then add a 3 to everything related to Python and you will get Python3 version. e.g. Python-git package would be found as Python3-git, etc.

I don't know while distros still offer that ridiculously old version of OCC, it is prehistoric! :)

how close a Mint version is to its original Ubuntu nowdays, I don't know, as far as I know you can just add one of our two PPA repositories to your system and install FreeCAD "Release 0.18" or the FreeCAD dev snapshots compiled daily from the "daily" PPA, or the best is actually to install both, then you can test any bugs etc. in current code from master where your bug information will be relevant and will likely get fixed.
