Import Stp file option missing on V 0.18

Hi Guys...thanks for the help last time. I am slowly getting a little better, but this is no where near what I do all the time...so I remain bad

I down loaded the above version (although I have a video on importing stp file in v 0.19) but cannot find v 0.19.

I would like to import a stp file. I watch the video, it says:

Preferences
Import-Export.....this is were it all goes bad....the video shows these options: DXF, DWG, SVG, OCA, DAD Exchanger, Abaqus VTK, IGES, STEP.....

Mine shows: IFC, DAE, DXF, DWG, SVG and OCA.

So no step???
Can anyone help??

I am now interested in 0.19....but when I went to the link it downloaded "FreeCAD-master,zip". Not as the previous that was "freeCAD-018.16131.3129ae4-WIN-x64-installer.exe

Did i hit the wrong hyperlink??

Only the latest stable has installable .exe format available.

For the current pre release version you can get one of the zip files, extract it, then look for FreeCAD.exe in the bin folder. There is no need to install.

Thank you for the tip on v 01.9. But I searched in the unziped files and I could not find FreeCad.exe or the bin folder.

I suppose just wait for the real one...ha-ha

They are 7z archives and you will need 7-zip to extract them. You should try Py3Qt5 buils because Py2Qt4 ones will be discarded in the future.

But I am totally confused...I downloaded and upziped:

FreeCAD_0.19-17515_x64_Conda_Py3QT5-WinVS2015.7z: and
FreeCAD_0.19-17515_x64_LP_12.1.2.PY3QT5-WinV2015.7z: and
FreeCAD-master.zip

They all unziped into their own folders. There were a number of FreeCAD.exe file and I clicked on one and it appeared to open.

It looks very messy....what have I done wrong??

They are different builds. You need just one of them extracted. Run its FreeCAD exe and if it runs Ok keep it. When in the future there is a new build that you want to try (because it has a new feature, fixes a bug you encounter,...) again download the latest build, extract and try. But keep some old working builds in case something in the new one makes it crash on your system.
