emboss a sketch into a curved element (like a helmet)

Post by jmiranduas »

New to the forum and trying to learn the software the best I can. How do you guys go by to emboss a sketch into a face of solid? I tried a couple of things, but since I'm new to the software and my cad skills are sort of limited; would like to see if some of you have any tips or if it's even possible to do

welcome to the forum.
sketches are planar objects, the can only be mapped to planar surfaces.
For non planar surfaces we create a sketch in a tangent plane for a point of the surface and then make a projection down to the surface.
this ist not a task for cad beginners. when you start learning cad you should first try the beginner example videos.
When you have a feeling for cad objects you may reask the question with more background knowledge.

Hi
Something like that :?:
Do a cube , on one face draw a half cercle , along the diameter creat a Datum line , and grove the half cercle around the Datumline
One of many solutions

Something like this probably https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=33700? Just a projection, not wrap around.

This sounds to me like asking just for a pocket. Please have a look at the PartDesign Tutorials.
