How to make screw mounts on a box..
How can/should I make those red things ? (mounts with hole)
- I am not asking about the hole part, but how to make that tapered profile ?
The top does not need to be rectangular, circular or a line would work too, as long it allows a screw..

Re: How to make screw mounts on a box..
Could you please attach your FreeCAD file? Optimal method will greatly depend on how you modeled your current part?

Hello
on a internal face of the box draw a new sketch with the profil of the angle , rotate it aroud his vertical edge 90°only , and 2mirror and polar array

In PartDesign I would use a triangle and pad it - and leave it like that. If you really want it to be conic in two dimensions, add another triangle for a pocket.

The file is here:

I would like to avoid steep overhang so that it is very easy to 3D print.

Re: How to make screw mounts on a box..
Checking your design with the dependency graph I see red lines, that means these are illegal operations. Rework the model so all operations are valid

and @papyblaise - thanks for a great example.
Re: How to make screw mounts on a box..
Will try to figure out what exactly is wrong.
what throws me off completely is the crazy thing with having a sketch with a useful name, then doung something with it, and suddenly Freecad copies that reasonably named sketch to CopySketch006 or other mess like that...
I would almost believe I needed to do something very wrong to make it do that.
Re: How to make screw mounts on a box..
For such a box you should stay in PartDesign workbench - as papyblaise did.

Re: How to make screw mounts on a box..
Symmetry for the base sketch for easy placement of later features. Sketches drag/dropped over the body name to place them inside the body. Mapped to base planes for propper attachment. Sketches fully constrained with meaningfull constraints - could be measured in real world. Screw holes connected to supports with CarbonCopy. Side sketches modified for printability. Supports for top bolts as per papyblaise suggestion, sketch moved to proper position by changing its attachment properties. Removed arduino board and lcd display to reduce file size.
