Wall-post junction

Post by hacharts »

Hello FC users and thank you for stopping by.
I searched the forum before posting this, but wasn't able to find anything related to my need.
This is a simple problem that I'm encountering while using freecad. I am modeling a house using BIM workbench, and while putting in walls and structure elements (in this case posts) I'm having a problem because the posts aren't perpendicular to the walls, so there's always a little void between the two or they're intersecting.

This can cause some problems in the final model and in the quotes.
One solution would be to draw the walls and posts base and extrude them and transform them, but it doesn't look to be the easiest way to do it.
If someone's else encountered this kind of problem, kindly share the solution with the community.
Thank you for your time.
Moussa HACHEMI.

Maybe this:
  • Extend the wall to the centers of the columns
  • Create a Part CreateSimpleCopy from each column. Clones created with Draft Clone cannot be subtracted in the next step.
  • Subtract the copies of the columns from the wall with the Arch Remove command

Thank you very much @Roy_043
I've followed your instructions and got a good result.
Steps :
  • Create a Part CreateSimpleCopy from each column
  • Draw a new line and extend it, create a wall from the line (I wasn't able to extend the wall without doing this)
  • Subtract the copies of the columns from the wall with the Arch Remove command
The method is little bit complicated and long compared to some softwares. In Archicad, It's too simple to extend the wall's length. While the wall adapts automatically when joined with a post. Perhaps @Yorik could have a look at this.

Thank you again.
