Sketch Line Colour Help

Postby Valegex » Fri Oct 04, 2019 12:02 am

Hi everyone,

I've read a few threads on this topic but unfortunately none appear to solve my problem!

- I want to change my sketch line colour (and cursor colour) to black/dark grey, as they're white initially.
- I successfully changed my workspace background to a light blue-white gradient, so I'd like the contrast between that and the sketch lines.
- I've changed the default line colour in the preferences window, both under the Sketcher>Colours tab and the Display>Part Colors tab.

The workspace area changed fine, but the lines and cursor have not changed.

Am I doing something wrong? Are there other steps I have to take?

Thanks in advance, any advice would be much appreciated!

I think since the icons are associated with line colors the developers decided to freeze the colors.

The "Default edge color" is used for lines in sketches that are not being edited. Maybe you want to change the "Edit edge color"? Note: If you are editing a sketch while changing these settings you won't see an immediate effect. Some of the color settings even require a restart.
Things seem to work fine here:

Okay, that's interesting, is there no way of getting around it?

Thanks for the response! I've changed my edit edge colour too, to a dark orange. The issue I'm having is with the colours of the lines in an open sketch, they're white, but I'd like them to be black. I figured there would be a way to change that, since one can change the colour of pretty much everything else.

The "Edit edge color" is in fact used for the lines in an open sketch. If I change that value to black and then open a sketch I can see an immediate effect.

There is one other thing that is worth mentioning:
The "Default edge color" and the "Default vertex color" determine the "Line color" and "Point color" properties of newly created sketches. Existing sketches keep these properties when you change the "Default" colors in the settings.

What I said in my previous post about having to restart FreeCAD is actually incorrect, I was confused about the effect of these "Default" colors.

BTW: The tooltips for the "Default" colors are incorrect in V0.18 (but already fixed in V0.19).
