Geometry Error: Part Design -> Part -> Connect?

Post by Markymark »

Hi,

maybe it makes sense to take a quick look at the pictures and files I postet to the german forum:

https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=41229

Same simple object generated on two different grounds. Boths ways lead to a significant amount of geometry errors as long as "Refine" is set to "true".

Setting "Refine" to "false" solved the issue. This is fine for me so far ... just a cosmetic thing.

Maybe someone might consider if this is worth a bug report.

Rgrds,

Mark

Hi Mark,

This is a very valuable to have that refining can "generated" BOP_Algo errors. Especially this is particularly unexpected.
Unfortunately, I guess this is an OCC problem that we have to live with. ;)
Also notice that these aren't strict errors in the geometry. It just tells you that it could lead to issues with subsequent BOP operations. But the shape is still valid.

refinement algorithm is actually FreeCAD. There are OCC routines for it too (and knowledgeable people said they are good), but they are not used in FreeCAD.
