can not use space bar to hide any element.

Post by cc14 »

As the title, i can not hide any element in part design by pressing space bar, so just do it by manually in View/Toggle Visibility or toggle the value of Property/Visibility of the elements. Is it a bug or there is way for setting that?

My system:

OS: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.18.4.
Build type: Release
Python version: 3.6.8
Qt version: 5.9.5
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 7.3.0
Locale: English/UnitedStates (en_US)

Hi, welcome.
Can you try to reset your settings by renaming your ~/.FreeCAD/ folder?

Thank you.

I do not change any folder/file name . There are 3 files in my ~/.Freecad: cookies, system.cfg and user.cfg

That's as it should be, and you should rename the whole folder to reset to a plain vanilla installation. A new folder with such files will be created, and to return to your current settings you can after the test remove the new folder and restore the old one thus restoring the settings.

I've uninstall Freecad, delete the .FreeCAD folder and reinstall it again, but it's seem nothing fix, i can not still using space bar, so i rename the .Freecad folder and restart it, but it still not work but a new .FreeCAD folder has been created. It's sill not work. So i remove the new .FreeCAD folder and restore the old file, and it's still nothing change.

I don't see anyone asking about the current mouse model being used. Please set gesture mode and see how it works.

Hi,

I have the same problem that can not hide any element and origin by the space bar. My version:

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.24291 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-19
Hash: 7b5e18a0759de778b74d3a5c17eba9cb815035ac
Python version: 3.8.6+
Qt version: 5.15.2
Coin version: 4.0.1
OCC version: 7.5.0
Locale: Chinese/Taiwan (zh_TW)

I had this problem last month when I first upgrade to 0.19 from 0.18, and I report in the Chinese forum, but did not have any answer. Then I report to Help forum
https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 68#p507068
I follow all good fellows' instruction, but still not work. I decided to uninstall 0.19 and back to 0.18 for a moment due to I need to finish some works.

Today, I uninstall 0.18 and install 0.19, also follow other good users here to suggested me to fix the cfg. file, but still not work. Now I am report to here if some one can find this and help. I don't know are there any other users have same problem or just me.

Thanks!

Does View>Visibility give 'space' as shortcut ? Std_ToggleVisibility
Is it possible to change the shorcut ?

Yes, it works! Wonderful! How could I did not realize this way? Thank you so much.

By the way, why the space bar cannot work? It is very convenient.

Thank you again!

This seems to be a bug.

Anyone could file in Mantis Bug Tracker ? :)
