Printing in actual size

Post by PunyTune »

I'd like to test fit drawings before I 3D print them. My prints are bigger than real size. Can this be overcome?

I tried saving an SVG, but FreeCAD says it can't export that type.

A PDF is equally large.

How did you get your print? If you use TechDraw it is as accurate as your printer is. Make sure the printer driver does not autoscale.

I just tried to PRINT from the PartDesign tool.

I tried to follow the TechDraw tutorial, and right away I get "Template not set for page."

In Preferences, nothing is populated for a default template or template directory.

The templates directory for macos is

Code: Select all

.../FreeCAD.app/Contents/Resources/share/Mod/TechDraw/Templates/
where the three dots at the beginning denote where you have FreeCAD installed, e.g. /Applications.

I always export my stuff as .stl's and I've never had any problems:

1. Select the body or the feature in the combo/tree view.
2. File --> Export (Or press Ctrl + E)
3. Save as type --> STL Mesh
4. Open in your favorite slicer and print.

This has always resulted in 100% accurate STLs for me.

Hope this helps!
