Installing Dark Theme

Post by usbhub »

Hello,
I hope I'm in the right subforum :?

I''m trying to install the dark theme, but I only find old threads (0.16 and older) about it. Is there any installation instruction for it on new versions? I found the information, that you can do it in the preferences, but I find nothing in my preferences menu…

Maybe a wiki article would be a good idea, maybe I'm not the only user with this problem.

Regards

I didn't name my special version, because that was more a general request about an installation "manual", so I didn't posted my version, but here is my:

Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.18.4.
Build type: Release
Python version: 2.7.15+
Qt version: 5.9.5
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 7.3.0
Locale: German/Germany (de_DE)

Look under Edit -> Preferences ... -> General -> Style sheet. There should be a couple of FreeCAD themes listed there.

Ah, I looked under Display :?
Maybe it would make sence to change that, because the theme is more part of the display I think.

Good to hear you sorted it out.

Display section focuses more on the 3D viewport.

Python 2 is obsolete. You need to be using Python 3 with Qt 5.

Install the Python 3 version of FreeCAD.

FreeCAD 0.18 is i guess still considered to be Py2/Py3 compatible. Therefore no special need to worry about it, as long as everything is working fine.

Just to update. It seems that in 0.20.1, the place to configure the theme is:

Code: Select all

Edit -> Preferences -> Preferences packs
There is only one theme in the list originally, but in Manage... you can select other themes which can then
be previewed and added to Preference packs. list.
