Theoretical question - why its not possible to Loft from Face to Face
Hello. Im continue learning FreeCad, now not only 0.18 but also 0.19 pre, thanks to reworked Draft workbench.
What i cannot understand is, why it is not possible to loft(part design one) two faces just selected from two parts directly, without alot of additional steps.
I know that i can create facebinder or shapebinder(or a wire from edge, or face from edge), loft it, and then fuse parts. But why do i have to, why software aint doin it for me?

Hi
Maybe you confuse Loft and sweep
Loft is between 2 faces or more , sweep is nearly the same but along a path
As you describ you try to do a sweep
without more detail I can say more (smal Fc file)

Between 2 face objects, separate object. Not from faces that belong to some part. I have to extract those faces first.
Ok, a screenshot to clarify. i want to conect two selected things. I would love to do it inside one part(like crate a scetch and loft from face to scetch), and some times from two different parts like conecting them and recomputing if theyr placement has changed.papyblaise wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 10:04 am Maybe you confuse Loft and sweep

But if i click loft, yellow one, there is only scetches to select.
But if i select a Shapebinder first, and then add scetch with a circle, it loft.
It very confusing.
Basicly i want to conect parts with one simple operation.

Maybe it's clear for you , but totaly understanding for me

yes it's possible. with curve and part WB sure.
With PartDesign... maybe. Post your file.

Sorry but this is a limit of english.papyblaise wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 10:52 am Maybe it's clear for you , but totaly understanding for me
i want to have two parts, to be connected from one face to another, and i want to have that connection to be recomputed each time i change parts placement.
Made anoter, simplier test case. Two cubes, one movable. How to loft from face of cube one to the face of cube two, so this will remain after cube two change position. Cubes are oversimplification, i would need to do it with curved objects.
here, simple test case

You have to use only one body
Do MaynBody , draw a new sketch on the end of it , a 2cd at 110mm then do the loft , pad MovableBody from the face
You can move the 2cd sketch as you need for a new distance or angle , the movableBody follow it

Re: Theoretical question - why its not possible to Loft from Face to Face
Thank you for the idea, but that approach wont work for my case. As i said, this test case with cubes is oversimplification, i need to connect curvy objects(very curvy, alot of round edges), i cant just draw another sketch and move it.papyblaise wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 12:04 pm You have to use only one body

So rather than let us stupidly wade and waste our time, post your file

For keep on with PartDesign, new feature Binder of Freecad 0.19 can extract a face from an other body and keep his position.
I've just made a small video: https://youtu.be/2Asnj8OTLqY
There are a small bug after make the loft: need to turn visibilty on.
