Graphic to a cylindric surface ?
Here is what I need to do.
I have a 2D Graphic, which I need to get on a cylinder. Kind of the reverse sheetmetal development.
Is there a way to do it? (similar to the circular text macro)
Background is: I have piece of tube into which I want to have a graphic cut into with a lasercutter. But the company, which does the cutting for me needs to have a 3D Model with the graphic already "wrapped" onto the tube.
The outcome should be like in the attached pic, but more accurade (the one in the pic I did freehand with a plasmacutter)

Re: Graphic to a cylindric surface ?
In the Curves workbench (add-on), there is a tool to map a sketch to an arbitrary surface. Maybe you can give it a try.
Re: Graphic to a cylindric surface ?
Do we have a wiki page for it yet ?

Re: Graphic to a cylindric surface ?
Whats the name of the command to map a sketch to an arbitrary surface ? I'll create a page for it (Curves Workbench)

Re: Graphic to a cylindric surface ?
In the menu the internal command name is 'SoS' which stands for 'Sketch on Surface'.

Re: Graphic to a cylindric surface ?
I failed to mention in the video that you also need to have the Curves workbench installed to use this.
Re: Graphic to a cylindric surface ?
There is also a macro I used once to do this, I can't find it.
Re: Graphic to a cylindric surface ?
I know this isn't exactly what you want but maybe it will help. It's also an interesting use of the groove tool. If you sketch in 3D the cutout in the cylinder updates real time.
