Problem to solve (beginner level)

Post by vinvan »

OS: macOS 10.15
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.18.16146 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: (HEAD detached at 0.18.4)
Hash: 980bf9060e28555fecd9e3462f68ca74007b70f8
Python version: 3.6.7
Qt version: 5.6.2
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 7.3.0
Locale: English/UnitedKingdom (en_GB)

I have been referring to some beginner CAD exercises to improve my skills, they show the shape and a limited number of dimensions for you to work out how to build.

However there are two lines in this particular image that I'm not sure how to draw as I don't know what tool to use or where to place restraints.

I'm sure it's an easy problem to solve but would appreciate if someone could advise me.

Thanks

I'm afraid we can't see your image....
you have to add it as an attachment(below the text input window) or you can drag and drop it in.

At a guess I'd say they were radii with tangental constraints.
You could include your file to make it easier to help.

Sure, I've attached it below. I tried using the arc tool to create a curve and then setting an tangent restraint but didn't know what to do about the radius.

Also something to bear in mind it could just have been a poorly drafted original sketch with missing measurements.

Please note that some guesswork remains: the radii of these arcs are not given.

I had considered that. I've been able to make the two arcs but can find no way to define the radii from the sketch. So I assume the original template just didn't give that dimension.

Thanks for the input. I'm new to this and just wanted to make sure there wasn't an element I was missing.
