construction workflow/paramters across files

Postby pioupus » Thu May 21, 2020 9:47 am

Hi community,

for learning I want to design a drawer for our kitchen. The result should be a Bill of materials and drawings of each part I need to saw. The design should be parametric in a way that I can define width, depth and height in a spreadsheet.

My first idea is to create a ss.FCStd file which contains the spreadsheet "ss".
Each part is defined in a single file and gets its parameters from the ss spreadsheet in the file ss.FCStd.

At the end I assemble each part in a resulting file which then should be able to create a bill of materials.

Is this a working way?

At the moment I fail with linking two parameters across files:
In the sketch workbench of file the side.FCStd I try to define the length of one constraint with ss#ss.ss_breite. This expression is not accepted. Any ideas?

This expression is not accepted. Any ideas?
Three remarks:
  1. The 'document not found' issue can be solved by saving and reopening ss.FCStd.
  2. The spreadsheet should be referenced by its internal name, not by its 'ss' label.
  3. The expression requires a unit. You can either add 'mm' in the spreadsheet cells (the most obvious solution) or add '* 1mm' at the end of the expressions.
