Problem sketching on curve surface, loft and mesh

Post by javier_zapater »

Hello all,

First time I post, and I appreciate in advance your time and interest on helping me on this. I tried first to check whether there were some topic covering my issue, but the forum is very big and maybe there is one already solving my problem, but honestly I could not find it.

I am using Curves WB (developed by @Chris_G) to sketch on curve surfaces (cone in my example), loft them with some thickness. I want to print3D with embossing geometries on the curve surface, lofted and pocketed. For the moment struggling to find how to loft sketches in the curve surfaces.

I am using for that "Map a sketch on a surface" command from Curves WB. The map goes fine, however, I was not able to Boolean Union both the Solid (cone) with the Sketch (on the curve surface). I tried then to convert the Sketch on a solid (by using Part WB and Menu command "Convert to a Solid"). Then I managed to boolean union both, but now I lost the thickness of the lofted sketch. So useless for my purpose to print3D

Any hint what I could do to keep the union with lofted sketch and be able to create Mesh to export .stl and print3D?

Thanks a lot for your support.

javier

Could be a coplanar face issue. Set the offset property of the sketch on surface object to -0.01mm. You should then be able to fuse the cone and the sketch on surface object.

Thanks a lot for your time and effort.
