3Dsurface: where is direction of cut? NOT fixed

Postby freman » Fri Jul 03, 2020 8:45 pm

HI,

I have been using 3D-surface thoughout its evolution but it seems that the means to set direction of cut has gone ( or been made obscure in some way ).

There used to be X or Y direction in the UI. Then this became redundant and there was some angle setting which had to be set in tree view.

Now I don't seem to find it anywhere. I remember struggling to find it last time , so maybe I've just forgotten, but I don't see any kind of angle setting.

Could someone point out where this can be done?

TIA.

There's 'cut pattern angle' available if you have cut pattern set to zigzag or line.

Many thanks, don't know why I couldn't see it.

Oops, not so fast.

The reason I could not see it is because it was not there !

At one point this a.m. I found one of the two 3Dsurface ops on this job had the angle param visible the other not. ;)

I was going to point the FCStd but FC crashed, and when I reopened both were open , so not much help. It seems to be a transitory bug.

I'm guessing that since visibility gets flipped depending up on the kind of path ( line or zigzag vs the rest ) , sometimes visibility of this param is not getting set correctly.

Did you try "right click" and "Show All" in the property panel?

I do not understand the logic of which parameters are shown and which are hidden, but "Show All" will make everything visible.

thanks for that tip Gene, but the point of posting was to make the bug known and hopefully get it fixed.

I now understand why sometimes I spend ages going back and forth trying to find what I need to set and can't find it. I thought I was having a senior moment. Unless this little glitch gets fixed , I won't be the last.

It seems that maybe closing and reopening may fix it too, but it does need fixing.

That should be trivial now it's been pointed out.
