Draft Workbench Crashing with file containing imports from SVG

Post by falviani »

Hi,

I created a design in the web app Makercase and downloaded the SVG file. Following instructions in the forum, I went into InkScape 1.0, ungrouped it, set the stroke style to 0 points and saved the file as plain SVG. I then imported the svg file as geometry. Following the forum instructions, I then went to the draft workbench. Each time I switch to the draft workbench FreeCAD crashed with an uncaught exception. The log file, the freecad file, and both svg files are attached. Setting the style to 1 point makes no difference.

I have the same problem trying to import a DXF file of the same design; that raw file is also attached.

I have previously used a downloaded SVG from this application successfully with my Laser Engraver via LightBurn.

This seems to me to be a bug.

I experience no issues either importing box_freecad.svg or box.dxf and then switching to Draft.

You compiled yourself? Have you tried using one of the development release builds instead of your own build? This would eliminate the possibility it is a problem with your build if you can reproduce with one of those.

Just downloaded the latest dev release build. That setup is:
OS: Windows 10 (10.0)
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.22411 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: master
Hash: d4519d5aec15bc08f029da5ed15410a494b57b2c
Python version: 3.8.5
Qt version: 5.12.6
Coin version: 4.0.0
OCC version: 7.4.0
Locale: English/United States (en_US)

Opened a new project, remained on the start page and imported the unmodified svg file. After agreeing to use 96DPI, it imported as geometry. Switched to the draft workbench, uncaught exception:
Gui::MainWindowUnhandled Base::Exception caught in GUIApplication::notify.
The error message is: Access violation
18:09:27 The event type 12 was sent to QOpenGLWidget
Object tree:

But it didn't crash at least.

This message occurred before in connection with graphcs card/driver issues. You may have a look at the Known OS specific issues.

Thanks for the reference. None of the issues listed seems to be relevant to this problem. I'm going to try another approach for a little while to see if there's a workaround.
