What's wrong with this sketch?

Postby garya » Fri Oct 23, 2020 12:22 pm

I can't get this sketch to pad, but can't figure out what's wrong with it.
I get the message "Failed to validate broken face".

Multiple concentric circles
There can only be one layer of nesting of sketch geometry.

Overlapping geometry.

No Tee intersections allowed (created by the lines crossing the circle/s circumference).

The key here is, "What should happen if FreeCAD was perfect in every respect?"

My "wetware" cannot figure out what you expect from all of those elements in the sketch. :?

What was the outcome supposed to be? - There are many issues with the sketch. It's not possible to work out what the pad should look like. It also appeared to have several overlapping lines that were not functional.

Thanks all for the replies. The goal was to have thin concentric cylinders to serve as supports for printing another object. I know I can't have disjoint geometry, so I joined them with a horizontal bar. I now realize I have to take out the parts of the horizontal bar that just cross the cylinders, and make the two middle circles arcs that connect with the horizontal bar; I was thinking of a boolean union when I drew it.

You have to take out at least two of the circles as well.

Thanks, I discovered that while fixing it (converted them to arcs).
