Re: Lost my work and cannot find it
I Just open the *.fcstd file. Then switch to the draft workbench. Then i select to to surface (also works on the bottom surface). Then i clicked on Shape2DView see https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Draft_Shape2DView . Then i mark the result (Shape2DView) and go to File --> Export. The you should choose as file type *.dxf , give the file a name and click Save. Final filesize < 50 kByte. More easier is not possible, this is FreeCAD (or any CAD) rock bottom.
The file you attached now is also 3D, which is for a lasercutter invalid.

Re: Lost my work and cannot find it
Sir,
Totally lost on both your explanation and the wiki.
I am so sorry. There is obviously a step you do that you assume I do.
??????
See the error I get??

Re: Lost my work and cannot find it
Still invalid. I get also the warning, but you can ignore that. Also easier i can not explain that. I wrote every click. Look that you are in the draft workbench, like i wrote before! Then click on the surface of the 3D-model an click the button which looks like in the wiki. Mark the result in the tree and export that.
Do not click on the body!
To be honest: when i see the sketches, you should definitely work though the basic tutorials, especially chrisb s sketch tutorial (see in his signature in the messages in this thread). The sketches are horrible. But but this have nothing to to with the *.dxf export.

Re: Lost my work and cannot find it
Sir,
Sorry. I did not do the final of this design. I was helped by a forum member.
I do not understand:
“Mark the result in the tree”
So here is another result - is it OK

Re: Lost my work and cannot find it
Now it is fine.
This is the result.
You can hide the body (mark the body and hit the spacebar) to see the result better.
But for exporting only mark the result, nothing else, and export that. As i say, the file seems now correct.

Re: Lost my work and cannot find it
What is a RHS line? I used AutoCAD about 20 years ago the last time. But every *.dxf i made in FreeCAD, which is 2D like the last file you made, which i sent so a lasercutter, plasmacutter, flamecutter or anything else, was OK.
Good joke!! I hope ..... at least i hope. https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Tutorials
More i can not help. If you want to do something, you must learn it. I am willing to help you but you also must be willing to learn (is this correct english i wrote?). This is not a for free service company, this is a forum. For example PTC calculate only for help minimum 100$/€ per hour, also for their own bugs .....

Re: Lost my work and cannot find it
Sir
Thank you for the help.
RHS = Right Hand Side. On the dxf viewer on AutoCad website it is missing the Right Hand Side edge. I do not have a dxf viewer.
No joke
What do you mean by "Hide". What do you want me to hide.
As I have said from the start, I am not good with these programmes. Also I was helped by a really nice bloke on the forum who re-did my file. He did take it to a level where I was totally out of my depth.
FYI, I have worked through on-line videos and there is (for a dummy like me) a big jump from 2D to 3D. I think one series they went to 3D on video 2. I am more than happy to work through the programme on 2D, but I have yet to find these tutorials.
Thanks.
Dummy from the bush
PS - not sure which file is good. I will sent 7 & 8 and ask if there is a RHS line.
